Foundations of Real Estate Certificate
This on-demand online certificate offers you a comprehensive introduction to the field of commercial real estate. The certificate includes five modules with 30 hours of content: the Overview, Finance and Investment, Multifamily and Office, the Pro Forma, and Development. Overview
Introduction to the Foundations of Real Estate provides an overview of the concepts, issues, systems, tools, and players in the commercial real estate ecosystem. This course consists of five modules leading to the Certificate in the Fundamentals of Real Estate. This course has been developed by the Urban Land Institute to extend the possibility of a career in the interdisciplinary field of commercial real estate to a new and diverse group of practitioners. ULI is a nonprofit education and research organization with over 45,000 members worldwide, dedicated to providing leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.
Designed to deliver a substantive introduction to the fundamental issues and concepts in commercial real estate, each of the component modules covers a different aspect of the field of real estate. Upon completion of the certificate, you will have gained a solid understanding of the fundamentals of commercial real estate, and will be well placed to continue your education through other ULI courses.

You will take the following courses:
Introduction to the Foundations of Real Estate
Developed for those who are new to the field of commercial real estate, this course provides a broad yet detailed overview of the fundamentals of real estate. You will learn about the real estate ecosystem and the players involved, as well as be introduced to the different financial instruments and tools used by development professionals.
Foundations of the Development Process
This course is designed to take participants through the development process from the developer’s point of view, from planning and site selection to construction, lease-up, and sale or disposition of the property.
Foundations of Pro Forma Modeling
In this course, you will be introduced to a series of pro forma examples and guided through each model reflecting the various stages of each project. The course begins with a simple example and moves on to more complex examples.
Foundations of Commercial Real Estate
An introduction to commercial real estate products with an emphasis on multifamily housing and office space.
Foundations of Real Estate Finance and Investment
Developed for those new to the real estate industry, this module provides a basic introduction to real estate finance and investment. Participants will become acquainted with fundamental real estate finance terms and concepts necessary to understand more complex development tools and processes.
All courses are available on demand, and you will have access for 90 days from the date you access the course for the first time.

How much does it cost?
Costs for this certificate are as follows: ULI Members $1,175, Government/Nonprofit/Academic Members $940, and Nonmembers $1,580.
I have already completed a required courses. Can I apply it toward earning a certificate?
Yes! Any course you have taken individually can later be applied to a certificate.
