Better Housing Coalition (BHC)
Monique Johnson is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Better Housing Coalition (BHC), the largest nonprofit affordable housing developer in the Richmond region. Prior to joining BHC she served as VP, Senior Loan Officer for Virginia Community Capital, a community development financial institution. Monique was appointed to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Board of Housing and Community Development and serves on the boards of the Virginia Housing Alliance and Virginia Impact Investing Forum. Monique was inducted into the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Business Real Estate Circle of Excellence, awarded a Marshall Memorial Fellowship through the German Marshall Fund, and recognized as a leader in affordable housing by Affordable Housing Finance Magazine. Monique is an adjunct professor of real estate in the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business. She earned her PhD in Public Policy and Administration from VCU, an MBA from the University of Richmond and a BS in civil engineering from the University of Virginia.
