Joshua Kahr
Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU's Schack Real Estate Institute
Joshua Kahr is a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University's Schack Real Estate Institute. Prior to joining NYU in 2025, he taught real estate finance and real estate capital markets for over 20 years as an Adjunct professor at other universities.
In 2009, he founded Metropolitan America, a real estate investment company that owns and manages multifamily properties. In 2002, he started Kahr Real Estate Services, a training and consulting company that services family offices, investment companies, and developers. He has also invested in and managed coworking and retail assets.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he held positions in investment sales at a regional brokerage firm in New York City and in acquisitions at a PE fund that focused on redeveloping environmentally contaminated real estate.
His board experience includes a publicly traded REIT and numerous private proptech startups.
Publications include two books on real estate market analysis.
He has an MS in Real Estate from New York University and a BA in Economics from Reed College.
